Family Party 2009

We're looking forward to seeing everyone this month at the family party! We're planning some activities this year which will benefit from your painless participation: There's a short survey for you to answer at the end of this page, and a casual photo contest which needs willing contestants. Please also fill in the RSVP field at the very bottom when submitting your answers. If you have any dietary restrictions or other special requests you'd like our help with, just let us know. You can reach the party planning committee by email at party@steed.org.

"10 Things" Photo Contest

Dust off your camera and start digging through old prints, it's time for the first (and perhaps last) annual photo contest! We've chosen a list of ten categories below, and you'll have to think outside the box to select photos from your collection which fit the categories. You may enter one photo per category, and you can enter as many or as few of the categories as you like. Even if you choose not to enter any photos at all, you can still participate as a judge.

The photos will be collected at the beginning of the party and placed into albums which will be on display around the patio. Anyone can vote for their favorite entry in each category, and it's up to the voter to decide the judging criteria; it may have more to do with how well the photo fits the category than its technical qualities, so the winning photos won't necessarily be the most professional captures.

Please bring your entries with you in the form of 4x6 prints. Be aware that you won't get your entries back, so please keep the originals and submit copies. The photos should be ones that you personally captured, but there are no rules for when the photo was taken or what digital adjustments were performed, so feel free to get creative!

  1. Circular
  2. Reflection
  3. Three
  4. Red, white, or blue
  5. Without
  6. Between
  7. Smell
  8. Before or after
  9. Different
  10. Water

Survey Questions

We've chosen some questions which don't have any particular right answers, and we'd like you to say what pops into your head first, so don't worry too much about whether your answers are factually correct. We'll count the responses and use them for a game Saturday afternoon, but your particular answers will be anonymous. The more responses we get the better the results will be, and all ages are invited to participate.

We're hoping to get around 50 total answers per question, so please also round up answers from your family or invite them to submit their own.

Most of these questions can be answered from the perspective of either past or present:

A sound you might hear on the farm
Something sold at the farm implement store
A type of tree found on the farm
An animal found on the farm
A product sold by Lakeview Dairy
The name of a pet on the farm
Something done Christmas morning on the farm
A crop grown on the farm
A language spoken on the farm
A musical instrument played on the farm
A type of insect found on the farm
